Elon Musk continues to ‘tease’ Mr. Trump

Elon Musk continues to shake up US politics by publicly attacking President Donald Trump for not having anyone prosecuted in the sex scandal involving Jeffrey Epstein.

In a post on the X platform on the morning of July 7 ( US time ), Elon Musk – who was once a close ally but has now become a political opponent of Mr. Trump – posted a satirical image titled “Epstein arrest counter” with the number “0000”.

“What time is it? Ah, it’s no-one-gets-arrested-time again…” Musk wrote sarcastically.

The comments came after Musk responded to another post criticizing the Trump administration for promising to make public the “Epstein list” but then denying the existence of any such list.

“This was the last straw,” Musk commented.

Musk’s move comes shortly after Axios revealed an internal memo from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI. The two-page document said there was no evidence that Epstein, a convicted sex offender, had extorted powerful figures or held a “client list,” as conspiracy theories have long claimed.

The memo also supports the previous conclusion that Epstein committed suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019, and that there is no basis to believe he was murdered. Importantly, the DOJ has no plans to prosecute anyone else in connection with the case.

This information has sparked a wave of strong reactions from public opinion, especially from those who believe that the Epstein case still has many hidden secrets.

In a notable development last month, Elon Musk claimed on X: “Trump was named in the Epstein file. That’s the real reason the documents were never released.”

“Bookmark this article,” he said shortly afterward. “The truth will come out.”

Musk’s cryptic accusation came just minutes after Mr Trump threatened to cancel government contracts with businesses owned by one of the biggest donors to his 2024 campaign.

Notably, before his election in 2016, Trump said he had “no problem” with making public documents related to Epstein.

However, last year he completely denied any connection, writing on social media: “I never got on Epstein’s plane or went to that ‘stupid’ island. There must be strict laws on artificial intelligence – because it will be a huge and dangerous problem in the future!”

A day before Elon Musk’s sarcastic post, Mr. Trump also posted a long article criticizing Musk for calling for the establishment of a third political party.

“I have been disappointed to see Elon Musk become a train wreck over the past 5 weeks,” Trump wrote.

“He even wants to create a third party, which has never worked in America, and the system is not designed for that,” he added. “The only thing third parties are good at is creating total CHAOS AND CONFUSION, and we have had enough of that from the Radical Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their sanity!”

The Hill also said it had contacted the White House for comment on Musk’s statement.
