Eamonn Holmes broke down in tears after boss ‘threw mug at him’

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has opened up about a shocking incident that left him in tears after he was attacked by his boss in the past.

Eamonn Holmes has confessed that a distressing encounter with his boss once brought him to tears at work.

The 65-year-old GB News presenter, who has had an extensive television career spanning GMTV, Sky News, and This Morning, hasn’t always had smooth sailing on his journey to becoming the successful broadcaster he is today.

He revealed that a confrontation with a former boss led to him breaking down in tears. Eamonn reminisced about his early days in journalism when he was just 22.

He commented: “My sports editor called me in and he said ‘what’s wrong with that script?’ I read it, and I remember it was about darts. I went ‘I don’t know’.

“The next minute he fired a ceramic cup bang against the wall behind me. It smashed.”

Eamonn disclosed that the ordeal didn’t end there as he was once again questioned about the problem with the script he had written, reports the Mirror.

The presenter admitted he still couldn’t identify the issue. He continued: “I am beginning to feel my top lip shudder and I am going, don’t cry, don’t cry here. He said ‘what is wrong with that script’.”

Eamonn shared with his stunned GB News colleagues. He added: “He then lifted this Adler typewriter – metal Adler typewriter – and threw it down at my feet that I had to jump for.

“I then started to cry. I was 22-years of age and I thought this is awful.”

In a surprising revelation, Eamonn disclosed how his “protector at the building”, a producer, intervened on his behalf.

“He just went up, and went into the office and this guy was a very big sports guy and he punched him,” Eamonn shared.

Despite the commotion over his script, the ex-This Morning anchor confessed that he never discovered what the issue was.

However, it wasn’t Eamonn’s last clash with colleagues. Just last month, he labeled some former co-stars as “horrible” and “false, false, false”.

During the latest installment of his podcast Things We Like, Eamonn, alongside co-host Paul Coyte and hardman actor Ray Winstone, delved into the topic.

Ray offered anecdotes about his time in Los Angeles and the allure of Hollywood that ultimately drove him back to Britain, prompting Eamonn to launch into a biting critique of showbiz.

The veteran broadcaster sarcastically commented: “I don’t like this character, I don’t like so and so, I like that person, I didn’t get on with them.

“That’s what the business is based on. I mean, I’m like you [Ray]. I get myself into trouble because if I don’t like someone, they’ll know I don’t like them.”

Eamonn intensified his criticism by saying: “And there are so many horrible people that you end up with. People say, ‘Oh, he’s lovely, he’s fantastic’. If they say to me, ‘What’s that Ray Winstone like?’ I’ll say he is lovely and he is fantastic and people will believe me because I wouldn’t say it if you weren’t, but so many are just false, false, false.”
