Country singer reveals ‘heartbreaking loss’ after family is swept away in deadly Texas floods
The “Drinkin’ Days” singer, 53, revealed his family has “suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss” due to the devastating floods in Texas that have claimed the lives of more than 100 people.
His wife, Kori Green, elaborated on her Instagram account Monday: “Pat’s little brother John, his wife, Julia, and two of their children were swept away in the Kerrville flood.”

“We are so thankful for the outpouring of love and concern,” Kori wrote.
“We are heartbroken and anxiously waiting for all of them to be found,” she added. “Thank you for your prayers.”
While Kori’s post still reads that they are waiting for the family members to be found, local outlets reported that John’s and Julia’s bodies have been recovered.
Family members revealed that the couple had been staying in an RV in Kerrville with their two young sons when the flood came ripping through, reported KCEN-TV on Tuesday.
Green’s loved ones confirmed their deaths, with witnesses telling the Daily Express that John “clung to his babies” James, 1, and Jack, 5, as he fought to stay afloat.

The search for their sons continues, with their daughter, Jenna, uninjured, as she was at summer camp and not at the RV park.
The Post has reached out to Green’s rep for comment.
Well wishes for Green’s loved ones immediately poured in.
“Prayers upon prayers for Julia and the boys to be found, for peace that surpasses all understanding and comfort for precious Jenna,” one person commented on Kori’s post.

“Kori, I am so so sorry, from the bottom of my heart to hear this. Sending your family SO much love. Prayers, prayers prayers they are found safe 🙏🏼,” added another. “The situation is truly inconceivable. Sending our love and prayers 🤍,” wrote a third.
“There are no words for a loss like this. I can’t imagine the heartbreak you’re feeling, but please know you’re in my heart and prayers,” shared someone else.
The country crooner released a statement before his wife offered more details.
“Over the weekend, during the devastating flooding that hit Central Texas, my family — like so many others — suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss,” Green began.

“We are grieving alongside countless Texans whose lives have been upended by this tragedy,” he continued, adding they are already in deep mourning.
“Right now, we kindly ask for privacy and space as we mourn, support each other, and begin to process what comes next for our family. Thank you for your love, prayers, and compassion,” the San Antonio native concluded.
On Saturday, Green announced that he was postponing his Sunday concert “due to the unforeseen weather and tragedy,” adding, “Our prayers go out to all the folks affected by the floods in the Texas Hill Country.”

Severe downpour throughout several central Texas counties started late Thursday night, causing catastrophic flooding of the Guadalupe River, with the death toll reaching 109 people Tuesday, including at least 27 children at Camp Mystic.
Famous Texans have continued to speak out about the heartbreak, with Jenna Bush Hager, 43, breaking down as she discussed her family ties to the Christian summer camp.
“My mom [former First Lady Laura Bush] was a counselor there, but also so many of my friends were raised at this camp,” she said on “Today” during Monday‘s episode.

At least 27 children from Camp Mystic are among those who lost their lives.
“Texas camps are institutions, as you just heard, where many family members, generations — this camp was 100 years old — so grandmothers, mothers, kids have all gone there.”
Hager also shared that “many of my friends had their kids there last week.”
“The stories I’ve heard over the last couple of days are beautiful and heartbreaking,” Hager stated. “Texas has a type of resilience. They’re generous people, where people want to reach out and help. Texas camps are really special.”
Texas icon Matthew McConaughey also addressed the tragedy, begging others to “lend a helping hand” to those in need.
“At least 70 lives have been lost, many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting – inside and out,” the actor wrote on X Sunday.
“If you’re able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can. It’s gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor.”
On Tuesday, the Arkansas National Guard deployed four Black Hawk helicopter crews to assist with recovery efforts near Austin, Texas, following the deadly floods, per CNN, as scores remain missing.
