Country Music Star and Wife Grieve the Loss of Their 29-Week-Old Daughter
This Sunday, Drake White shared some heartbreaking news. The singer and his wife are grieving their daughter, who passed away last week.
On Sunday, country singer Drake White and his wife, Alex, took to social media to share some heartbreaking news. At just 29 weeks old, their baby daughter, Della Elizabeth, has passed away. The couple shared the news with fans on Instagram.
“On Sunday, August 31st, our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, went peacefully to be with Jesus. We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her.”
The couple went on to acknowledge that, “The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all. We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide. May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”
Della Elizabeth White was only 3 pounds and 3.5 ounces, and exactly 29 weeks old.
Leaning on Faith for Support
The couple first shared that they were expecting their daughter back in May. Della was the second child to their son, William Hank, who is now 2 years old. Both children were conceived through IVF, which the couple has been very open to speaking about online. Before they were expecting William, Drake and Alex had been trying to get pregnant for nearly six years. They shared the difficulties of this journey with fans, which were compounded by health complications for Drake’s wife, Alex.
“We’ve been through so much, from my having a stroke on stage to Alex being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and having an autoimmune disorder. And then this was just something else that tested our faith and tested our strength,” he shared in September of 2022. Then, in 2023, they welcomed William into the family.
“What a true blessing it is to welcome William Hawk White into the family. We’ve been praying for this little guy a long time!” the couple shared back in January of that year. Now, these parents are turning to their faith during this time of grieving, highlighting verses from Scripture to keep them going. Here’s one that they shared, from Psalms chapter 31.
“I am dying from my grief; my years are shortened by sadness. Misery has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within. But I am trusting you, O Lord, “You are my God!” My future is in your hands.”
Although Della’s time on earth was brief, we know she will be greatly missed. Even in such a short time, it’s clear that she was already so valued and loved.
