The New York Post on September 3 quoted Vivian Wilson , the eldest daughter of billionaire Elon Musk , saying that she was bankrupt and had to share a room with three other people to save money, after abandoning the world’s richest father.
“People think I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars in my hand,” the 21-year-old transgender model shared.
“My mom is rich, right? But obviously the other guy [Mr. Musk] is incredibly rich,” she told The Cut , adding that she had no desire to be super rich.
“I still have enough to eat. I have friends, a place to live and a disposable income, which is great and much luckier than most people my age in Los Angeles (California, USA),” she said.
Wilson is the eldest of Musk’s 14 children . She severed ties with her father in 2022, when she filed for gender reassignment and a name change.
Since then, she has repeatedly criticized Elon Musk on social media for not accepting her gender.
For his part, Mr Musk has claimed in previous interviews that Wilson was “killed by an awakened mind virus” and that he was “tricked” into transitioning at the age of 16.
In the interview, Wilson also talked about her lavish childhood, attending a private school with the children of celebrities, including Apple, the daughter of stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.
Ms Wilson said she was taught multiple languages, including Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish. She attended university in Canada and Japan before eventually dropping out, blaming artificial intelligence (AI) for sapping her “motivation”.
Speaking about her newfound fame, Wilson – who has an agent and recently appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue – insists that she is “not good at being famous”.
“I struggled a lot to be seen as a normal person. There was a moment right before I became famous when no one knew who I was. It was amazing. Everyone treated me like a normal person. I kind of miss that. But I also love being famous,” she shared.
“I guess I’m a little indifferent to it. But I like that it brings in money,” she added.
Billionaire Musk, owner of electric car company Tesla and space technology company SpaceX, is currently the richest person in the world with a fortune of 413.1 billion USD, far surpassing the second-ranked billionaire Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle Corporation (USA), with a fortune of 271.6 billion USD.
