If you’ve been online at all in the last week, then you probably saw a few headlines about LeAnn Rimes’s teeth falling out during a recent performance.

The country superstar initially talked about the incident, which took place during a performance at Bow, Washington’s Skagit Casino Resort, in a candid video posted to Instagram. “I was onstage, and in the middle of ‘One Way Ticket,’ I feel something pop in my mouth,” she explained. “And if you’ve been around, you know I’ve had a lot of dental surgeries, and I have a bridge in the front, and it fell out in the middle of my song.”
“I ran to the side of the stage and put it back in, like popped it back in, and then just went on singing. And then I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening, or else I would have had to walk offstage. For the rest of the show, I was literally like this, pushing my teeth in, like, every couple lines, and singing.”

Obviously, having your teeth fall out is anyone’s worst nightmare — especially if you’re a world-famous performer giving it your all onstage. In a new interview with Flow Space, LeAnn got extremely real about the initial dental surgery that led to her unfortunate incident.

In the interview, LeAnn revealed that she got veneers when she was 16 and had them redone years later — but the dentist who redid her veneers didn’t bond them correctly, so she later underwent multiple oral surgeries and root canals.

“I look at my pictures from that time, and my face was so different — it was just so swollen,” LeAnn said. “Oh, it was awful. I was in chronic pain for, like, two-and-a-half years.”

Sounds awful — but it also seems like she’s being a good sport about the whole situation and is looking on the bright side. “I don’t usually have firsts in my career. That was a first and hopefully a last,” she said in her IG video. “Get ready for something to fly out. If you catch them, please return them.”
